Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a dental procedure performed to treat infections or inflammations in the pulp area of the tooth, which contains the living tissues of the tooth. This treatment is usually applied to patients presenting with symptoms such as toothache, gum swelling or tooth sensitivity.
The process usually includes the following steps:
Diagnosis and Imaging: First, the dentist evaluates the patient's complaints and, if necessary, can examine the internal structure of the tooth by taking x-rays. Anesthesia: The dentist applies local anesthesia to prevent pain during the procedure. Tooth Opening (Access to the Pulp Chamber): The dentist reaches the pulp chamber by opening the upper part of the tooth. In this step, access is provided to the living tissues inside the tooth. Pulp Cleaning: Infected or inflamed pulp tissue is removed. The canals are cleaned and shaped with special tools. Antiseptic Substance Application: The cleaned root canals are washed with an antiseptic agent and made sterile. Filling Material Application: The cleaned and shaped root canals are filled with a special filling material. This seals the inside of the tooth, preventing bacteria from entering. Repair of the Tooth: The upper part of the tooth is closed and, if necessary, a prosthesis or restoration is applied to the tooth.
